Chromed P7 - Has it been done?

What lies are in the photo for the headset. I can see nothing wrong.
There are a few things like odd cable routing but that's easy to sort.

Forks do look a shade different to the frame but that could just be tainting of the nickel finish or bought like that.

Normal threaded headset used, and the commonly used aheadset connection with a 1/8" new stem fitted.?

Do you still have the black judy looking forks and the nice looking ritchey silver stem ?

I'll take some close ups tonight to show the colour difference in the frame and forks - the threaded headset had a gap between the top of the headtube and the headset, about 5mm. Surely that is not normal - looked like it had been built upside down..

Still got the Judy type forks and the ritchey ahead stem..

No, there was no spacer - just a gap / an open space / the cup of the head tube.. The threaded headset was only 1 full turn on the fork thread...

I can see now it's pointed out.

The cups need pressing in to the frame. My guess it's been changed when the black sus forks came off for the sale of the bike and then he's not been bothered to do it.

Put a block of wood over it and hit it with a hammer if the headset is in good condition

Not the silver spacer looking thing but the big black gap under the cup.

Exactly - sorry, it's been years since I've played around with bikes so it's taking a while for the terminology to come back - you are spot on although that cup won't fit into the frame.

The headset is sh@@ged I need to ideally get a new headset - can these still be bought?

Bought, yep.

You just need to know the size.

If it' 1 1/8" it easy, if 1" slightly harder. I don't know what size P7 used.
