Chris King help

I have an older chris king no logo headset and its missing some parts, it doesn't look like the bearing top caps are compatible but does anyone know if the crown races are? Its in 1" ahead if thats and help. Cheers.

mail king & ask, they're v.quick response. the older king headset cups are more oval than round. IE wider in plan view (i needed diff crown race & ahead cap to get mine working). find the correct order code from king & order via aspirevelotech

Cheers buddy. I had already emailed aspire and they've replied already same advice though. I'll drop Chris King a line and hopefully get a reply. I hadn't tried them because they're closed from Fri to Mon but forgot about the time difference trying them now

i'm struggling to remember the codes. just checked a modern headset. theres a code on the bearing cap (atop the upper cup). in a diamond shape theres a letter. on my fairly modern headset its a letter B.

Lower crown race is the same as the new one as the lower bearing cup and bearing is the same, it's only the top cup that is significantly different. I've got one sat here in front of me at the mo and it's using a brand new lower race.

Kool and the gang pete I reckon I could get the newer top cap to work with the old cups too.

i;ve just found 2 totally different crown races, the bearing seat is shallower, yet the crown race is overall much deeper.. sorry to confuse things!

Its cool, will wait for the response from CK. I reckon I'll need to be on the money with the crown race as theres not much clearance on the fork crown should the new crown race be shallower. If that makes any sense :?
