Hi everyone,

I am looking at getting a full bike sent from the USA, the seller has quoted me $700 postage, with the bike boxed at a local bike shop.

Wondered if anyone has any advice as if I have to pay this much then the bike and postage will be around £1000 in total.

Thanks in advance.

Re:

Cheapest way is via USPS but the sender will need to keep the box smaller than 3m length and girth combined.

Will involve breaking the bike down a fair bit but is possible.

Definitely USPS. FedEx and UPS charge over $600 to ship a bike. Some bike shops are familiar with the correct size box USPS allows to ship overseas, and will break it down to fit.

My experience as well and with USPS and my LBS. Can't recall the exact amount but it was earlier this year, was a 21 inch steel frame and went to Germany and was under 200USD.

Why the priority ? :?
Priority = money

Pack it in wood and ship it in a freightline container. Takes considerably longer ,but not in the long run really i think once all the importation forms, transfers etc are carried out.

For me, I was shipping a higher end bike with a comparable purchase price so it's what we agreed on. Other benes are
Delivery in 6 to 10 business days, includes tracking & insurance. I agree though if there's no rush, why squander.
