As the saying goes, cheap printer=expensive cartridges :roll:
I've got a Canon Pixma MP210 printer/scanner. Can anybody point me in the direction of cheap replacement cartridges?

ive got 3 printers in the loft as it was always cheaper to buy a new printer than new carts!!! so in the end i bought a black and white laser printer for most of my printing and only use the colour one when really needed,the laser toner is still the one supplied and that was only supposed to be a 'get u going'one! brilliant bit of kit!

something like this- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/186126

Can't help with cheap cartridges, but I can say this. Epson have cheap cartridges, while most of the other brands don't. I looked into this and found out;

Epson have the jets as part of the printer, while the rest have them as part of the cartridges, so when you replace your Canon cartridges for example you are getting brand new ink jets. Also Epson's ink monitoring is very very basic and works on time and number of printer start ups rather than actual ink levels, this is so the ink jets don't burn out if the ink runs out. So the consequence of this is that with Epson you quite often have to replace cartridges that have 50% or more ink in them. You can buy a little widget that resets them to fool the printer into thinking its a new cartridges, but be careful not to run out. When you buy a new printer you rarely get full cartridges.
So in short, that's why cartridges are so expensive. Don't buy an Epson if you do very little printing and you don't have the widget to reset the cartridges.
Agree with stew-b though, laser is the way for value for money.

Agggghh not a Pixma 210, I have one sitting obsolete above the washing machine, used aftermarket cartridges and it threw the mother of all spazzes after a certain number of prints.

Tried all the service resets to no avail, the only way around it is to buy genuine "chipped" Canon cartridges to reset the ink counter.

Cost of two genuine cartridges £40, instead I purchased an HP C4480 from Tesco with two new non chipped cartridges for £39.99 got an improvement in print quality a colour screen, better card readers and a faster scanner.

The replacement ink is cheaper too so the printer doesn't become a disposable item.
