So, what's the cheapest way of polishing up properly tired old alloy?

Ideally i'd like some sort of electrical gizmo that can generate the torque to give a good finish yet be delicate enough for intricate bits of kit.

Maybe something like a Dremmel? What sort of heads do people use to polish with, any particular cutting compounds?

My first project will be a pair of M730 cranks, so pretty simple to begin with :)

screwfix, polishing mops set.
Two buffing wheels, two compunds, fits to an electric drill. Works a treat!

Dremels are way too small and weedy for most things. Easier by hand on the bits big mop no reach.

Its what I used on the M900 on the Goat, and RSRs before, so ideal for cranks.

Next step is a bench grinder with mops. mmmmmmm!! :)

Bench drills good for mounting the wheels and obviously has other use's. Bench grinder too. Get the cheap from aldi's/lidl or machine mart etc.

Bargain! Worth a punt for that!

I finish off with a lambswool buff and Tcut/AutoGlym polish to get a fine shine :)

Please be very careful when using buffers guys, they can grab and fling the piece your polishing at high speed.

Well, £9 worth of polishing later...
