Terry,
Thanks for the reminder. I did manage to get a few minutes with
Chas this week and I even showed him all the pictures that you took of
the bike. His opinion is that it is almost certainly a Roberts, made
before the move to Croydon, as a road-going fixed-gear
training/commuting bike. It's probably had a respray and the new
transfers included more "modern" Reynolds (and Roberts head tube)
decals than the frame's age. There was a period when the serial numbers
weren't consistently placed on either the rear drop-out or BB, but
that's a difficult call, as the records from back then are not complete
by any means..
So, you can go ahead and sell as a Roberts
