Chainstay cable-stop kink

Hello.

The chainstay cable stop on my bike is an orb with a hole in it. It doesn't securely hold the cable as the hole is only big enough for the cable inner. The cable kinks at the cable stop.

I've tried adjusting the length of the cable casing but it hasn't solved the problem. Is anyone familiar with this type of cable stop and if so is there any way to eliminate the kink?

Thanks.

Any pics? Have you tried a ferrule or a length if cable that comes with ferrules either end designed for rear mechs.

Is the hole in the stop on the mech side slightly larger? If so you might need a step down ferrule. All of my Italian frames needed these.

Response from OP

A step down ferrule - I didn't know they existed - sounds like the answer.

Thanks for the replies.
