Chain and Sprocket Confusion.

Hi All. It's no good. I don't thing I can salvage the chain on my Moulton. It was pretty rusty and although I had cleaned and freed off all the links apart from a few, one of those just broke rather than free up.

So, I need a new chain. Trouble is I don't know what sort. The hub is a Sturmey Archer 3 speed (in a 5 speed shell) and I believe the possibilities are either 1/8 or 3/32.

How do I know which one i have? For the record I would like to thank Europe for ridding the UK of Imperial measurements. If you are looking to use 32 'ooths of something then the something is too big in the first place!

It was pretty simple BITD. Basically only 2 types of chain (not counting funny track chains). :D

Then Suntour brought out thinner chains for it's "ultra" series then Shimano with the Ultraglide......then chains for 8-9-10-11 speed much later down the line.

I run a 10 speed campag set up on my modern basso and I haven't a clue what it is LOL

PS Auto-correct on the i-phone turned Jobbies into hobbies in my last post..........thank you Apple

Funny track chains? What do you mean? I had just remembered the part worn chain I took off my fixed when I upped the gearing. I was hoping to use it if I can think where I put the sodding thing.

Might it not be the right size? The running gear on the fixed is Miche Primato I think.

Well, I'll be buying one now as the chain I found was a few links short! Hopefully the steel sprocket and chainring won't have worn too much to not work with the new chain.
