Category X-Orange Formula.

That's ace! find it interesting to see the high front ends on the 87 bikes that were then abandoned for 25 years or more before we all realised it was the right idea all along!

The Handle bar widths are testament to that too. Long, Short, Super short back to long, we have gone full circle.

It really amazes me just how fast things were moving too, angles, BB heights, chainstay lengths, at first glance the Orange and Overburys appear very similar, but look again and you can see it.
I date the frame on the Orange to be earlier than the Overburys, and its clear Lester and Dave tweaked the geometry, especially when you compare the Orange to its Predecessor the Tushingham Works Replica, they took the best they had and made it better, and in line with how cross country racing was becoming a category in its own right. The whole era fascinates me.

I just came across the Steve Wade with his later version (🤟🥰), Im calling it the Formulas Formula, (for obvious reasons  )

Just look at the way the geometry has progressed in no time, and the best bit, all racing/rider input. (class).

Almost makes me wanna show each version together...

Pure coincidence now ive looked again, but i love the mix of groupset on the Formulas Formula, and the use of Suntour Self Energizing brakes, Short cage mech etc.... ( I feel better.)
