howdy.

drive side of my bottom bracket keeps working loose in my on one.

frame is only a few months old, as is the bb. first time it came loose i assumed i'd not nipped it up properly so removed it, checked threads, reinstalled nice and tight.

5 miles into tonights ride and its loose again.

dont know if it is significant or not but this is my singlespeed.

any ideas boyos?

those plastic washers from an outboard bearing b/b

and or thread lock or ptfe tape on the threads

english thread.

i have some threadlock but would rather diagnose the problem to be honest. if all else fails i'll stick a blob of weld on it

but would rather diagnose the problem to be honest.

It's the lack of loctite  They should be loctite in as it's a threaded part that you don't want to keep tightening/loosening .

Agreed but i've always greased the threads in the past to avoid them seizing and i've never experienced this before.

I'll clean the grease off and whack some locktite in there.

parts all defo from the "same unit". SOme cars are slightly slimmer, not taht you'd notice by eye, but enough to creak and play (any creaking). If its from the parts bin, make sure that the cart dia matched the cup internal dia, with a vernier. I have made the mistake, and "improved" a cheap BB with an alloy cup, kept coming loose, and found that the alloy cup was like 0.5mm bigger, (0.25mm "per side", not enough to initially notice).

i'll measure up but not sur how to accurately or do i include the trheads?

the bottom bracket was new and installed straight out of the box
