Carrera Quattro Comp GT 18''

Re:

Nice bikes these, 531 frame and forks and a cool smoke paint job, they were a dream bike back in the day of visiting halfords when it was a reasonbly good shop, I have had both Canti and U versions before ....... so if anyone is looking for a 20" U frameset, I have one hung up.... stripped of its XT

Re:

I’ve just bought one for £90. It looks totally original apart from the tyres. I’m picking it up Wednesday so will post pics up when I get it. It’s to replace the one I sold in 1995 and still regret.!

Re:

I’ve got one and am loving it in lockdown although being over 40 I’m feeling the bumps a lot more than I did when I was 16!

I’ve just had to find some original bits for mine so should be standard apart from lack of farmer John tyres and a more comfortable seat.

Re:

To any carrera comp owners - does anyone know what the model of the rear derailleur is - mine is a shimano stx and clearly has been swapped. Should be a deore xt but don’t know which model number it is. Any help greatly appreciated. TIA

this is my one :D :D 8)

That is absolutely identical to the one I had, I bought it in New Malden Halfords around the middle of 1990 reduced because it was an old model. The forks are rubbish and I bent them out just doing some really lame bunny hops in the garden. Halfords agreed it was a manufacturing defect (!) and when they couldn't get any replacement forks gave me a full refund !

It had *full* XT including headset & BB, which most manufacturers skimped on.
