Just picked up this Carlton Criterium which looks original apart from the SR aero stem and Raleigh engraved bars.Chrome on forks is peeling and it has chrome headstock lugs, rest is silver with blue on the headstock and downtube with yellow banding. The bike has its original pump, atom pedals,Huret gears and Normandy hubs.
Any ideas what year it is?...cheers guys.

Still a very photogenic mount. Date c1971. These were very attractive with crhomed head lugs and front forks. Nice set of as found images.

Classic Carlton :D There should be a frame number on it somewhere, bottom bracket, rear dropout of on the seat tube under the seat cluster........that will nail the date.

This was the prior when the letter prefix approach went out the window and for 4 years it s was just a series of numbers, tougher to date. Defo around the '71 period though.

Ah! forgot about that......... Carlton went through a period when the numbering went pants LOL

Thanks guys...i'll go with 71 then. The one in the catalog looks great with pale blue guards and yellow bar tape.
