Carlton Corsair Seat post size

In the process of building my newly acquired Corsair - 531DB tubeset etc. Anyone know size of seatpost required - I measured it at 27mm with a Vernier, and that tallies with the 27.2MM post I have spare not going into the seat tube. Don't want to butcher anything, so wanting to know what size post I need before I go any further.

My mid eighties Galaxy took a 27mm seatpost - it was bedged as 531 ST but I wouldn't be surpirised if Reynolds had offered stouter tubes in 531 for tourers previsouly without calling it ST.

checked mine this morning after pulling out the seat post and it has 27.2 stamped on it , hope that helps

Cool. I shall resort to some judicious brute force then! The one I have that is unwilling is also 27.2

do not force it , as it will sure get tight and then will it come out , try a 27mm and as lons as it clamps up ok , leave at that .
