Anyone know any care tips to extend the lifespan of their Flite?

My grey flite isn't damaged at all, but the leather on the nose and rear sides is beginning to show its age :(

So, to avoid further wear, is there a way of 'caring' for it?

I'm toying with clear shoe polish......has this ever been done?

Any hints or tips guys :D

not sureabout bike saddles but car seats need leather feed and clean from time to time to help keep the leather supple so i would try a normal car leather treatment plus it wont rub off on your shorts

I use some stuff saddlery wax more commonly used on horse saddles... doesnt do much for the colour (its clear-use shoe wax for that) but it keeps the leather soft and supple.

I bought some peter storm (£1.99) waterproofing leather shoe cream + mixed it in with some black leather polish.

After a couple of applications and buffing  my old flite came up a treat

standard leather cream (for jackets and shoes) and some black shoe polish for areas of wear on some edges on my old flite works for me.

Go with the shoe polish – works fine. But be careful that you pick the right shade of grey, my first attempt used some that was too dark and it stood out a mile.

Haven't noticed it coming off on my shorts, though I only ride in black shorts so it probably doesn't show.

Been treating my grey flite like this for over 10 years and it still looks fantastic

Excellent timing for this topic as my flite has came back from a wet and muddy ride looking a bit worse for wear.

Dum question, do you think the brooks proofhide stuff will be ok to use after touching up with black polish?
