Finally got to the bottom of this at the weekend!
After changing the Cam sensor, crank angle sensor, both ignition amps, the ECU, all 4 plugs and coil packs I had a revelation on Sunday morning...
The throttle body which houses a TPS and air temp sensor is bolted to a plastic monifold and has a metal support bracket underneath. This bracket wasn't in proper contact, hence the sensors were not earthed properly and so the TPS was giving the ECU the wrong signals.
It's always a bloody earth! At least its sorted now.
