Remembered at 1 am last night how annoying canti's are to fit compared to v's.

2 hours of my life gone- however have to say that the end result (other than quite squeaky brakes) is my clockwork is back to how she should look. :D

Wish I had taken a picture of the before and after, will maybe do that tonight, cause it's like night and day.

Any top tips on how to fit Canti's quickly/easily? :?:

apart from lbs

I'm sure that some people use one way, and some will use others. But, i always set the arms in place, slightly before vertical, clamp up all the cables, then set the blocks. Making sure to toe the brake blocks in, leading edge (front of the bike edge), hitting the rim first, that way they won't squeal. Shimano did the best cable/yoke system. Line up the cables with the line on the yoke, and bob 's your uncle!!!

They will always feel spongey, and under-powered compared to V's, though they will improve with wearing-in...... :x

Hope this proves helpful. :D

Used to hate canti's back in the day, bought Shimano V-brakes in 97 and was happy.
Since have figured canti's out and set them up similar to Bike Hoarder. I even find them pretty good compared to V's but less likely to lock up wheel which encourages me at least to ride more fluidly and roll through difficult terrain.

Cheers

...and they look nicer. I'd set them up without springs then take the wheels off and then attach the springs after set-up and toe-in.
