Canti brake lever and V brake compatibility

Hya everyone

I'm looking at fitting a 7 speed Deore DX combination brake and shifter unit onto my old Trek. Someone has previously used these with cantilever brakes but I'm hoping to use them with Shimano V brakes..are they compatible? will there be a problem?

I have a basic understanding that there is more "pull" with the V brakes but I have no idea what that means in terms of being able to use what I have.
