Canti boss/studs, M6, for switchblades

crank

Retro Newbie
I've got some old bontrager switchblade type forks, but they're missing a pair of screw in canti studs.

The mounting holes on the forks are M6 size, which is smaller than all the replacement studs I've been able to find.. Anyone got anything suitable, or can point me in the right direction?

Hi,

Did you ever find an answer to this question (4 years ago!)? I have the same issue - Bontrager Switchblade forks with missing canti studs.

The only other M6 screw-in canti-studs that I know of are the ones I have on my Look Fournales fork. They're steel, threaded part is M6x 10mm long, the front part is the usual dimensions. I'm thinking of getting a pair of M8 studs in titanium put them on the lathe, shave them down to 6mm diameter and re-tap them with a M6 die. i need to find ones that are solid though (no hole going through like many of the aftermarket Ti ones have).

Haha, this is a blast from the past.. I just got a notification that this thread had been updated.

In the end I used a 'Problem Solvers Canti Repair Kit' like this.

As you can see, basically just an M6 bolt and a piece of tubing to slip over it. They have the warning "Not suited to abuse type riding", but then again, neither are a pair of rusty old switchblades IMO..

That's a useful link, thanks. Alternatively, I just keep hunting around my house/shed - I know I must have the originals somewhere!
