The EST was not a XC bike ! :D

And a fully rigid 1990 Klein Attitude isn't a downhill bike but Dave Hemming won a silver medal in the junior World Championships :)

BITD having one bike for all purposes was commonplace... as I'm sure you know.
Yes, I agree…
The EST was a good bike for doing many things ! I really began mountain bike with it : the rear suspension helped me a lot. When I wrote that it's not an XC bike, it's only because it wasn't the bike with the better output. The rigid bike were better. But, I think that cannondale didn't built it only for downhill. In the early 90, the bikes were really polyvalent. The suspension at this time wasn't a necessity : the whole bikes were rigid, now, a lot of forks had suspension system… forks.
On other hand, the quality of the rider was more important than the quality of the bike .I thing that for winning in downhill with a klein, Dave Hemming would be very strong, but what were the bike the other riders rodes in 1990 : no doubt, rigid bike : suspension bikes really appear in 91, with the proflex and the EST (the Boulder is holder)

The picture of the lin welded between the chainstays…

I'll paint the frame as it was when I bought it but I have to draw the stickers first.

The SE 1500 didn't exist. You had only 3 EST : the SE 1000, Grey with suntour XC comp components ( the SE you have) the SE 2000, (black, with flashy green for the swingarm and a pink spring) with shimano XT and ritchey (crank, brakes…) component, and, the SE omega with grafton, cook bros crank, ringle…
the omega…

the SE 2000

The SE1000 : your bike
You can see the 1991 catalog there

I always wanted a SE omega, but have never seen on on eBay. Has anyone else? I have seen the SE 1000 though.

Omega are rare.
200 omega in 1990. I don't know how many in 1991. 200 ? 200 including SM and SE frames ?

Its only the pictures I have found on the web.
Some difference with the catalog picure : The RS1 fork and the red spring…
