cannondale est.........

Hello there,
wondering if anyone can give me a bit of help with a cannondale est that i'm working on.......... its pretty much mint paintwork wise, and i'm 'tricking it out' at the moment! here are some photos:

the only issue i may have is that i intend to ride it......... probably nothing too strenuous but i wanted one of these so badly when i was a kid that i would be a waste not to!
Getting to the point, the shock needs servicing as it seems a bit squelchy! anyone know where i can get this done? its a standard shock (the coil over one)............. Also i have seen some est's/delta v's etc with aftermarket shocks.. any ideas? or should i keep it stock? any input as to fancy parts would also be appreciated.......... currently pretty much stock, full XT/flexstem/pepperoni's/ritchey logic cranks etc. considering a full silver ringle makeover and some pauls levers and motolite v's......???

any advice would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks guys, J H Fenton

Do you have some pictures of your EST ?
For the rear hydraulic shock, cannondale has built them for only one year because it was not stiff enaugh. The shock of the delta V has not the same fixings on the frame. To find anothe shock would be very very very difficult.
Perhaps, you can change it for a first marzzochi or a Fox… (I now, it was possible to change the shock with a fox for the delta…)

Brusque has bought an EST fram but the shock didn't work. But it released itself som time later. For the spring, I think that each frame has it spring : more soft on the 17", medium with the 19", and firm with the 21"

My EST's shock I ride since 1992 has always make this "squelch" noise when it worked. And, it still works… :D

Photos......... work in progress!!!!

There are a couple of photos here, sorry they're a bit crap but i just went to the garage in the dark to take them!:

I think that it has possibly had a respray at some point in its life, as this was not a factory colour...... but it is quite confusing as it looks like it just came from the factory! the paint is really good quality and the decals look totally original. Thanks for the info 24pouces, maybe it's supposed to squelch!? Have you still got your est? would love to see another....

Any Ideas kit wise?

Hey guys,
What do you think to my plans regarding kit? standard or 'tricked out'?!?!
p.s. many other cannondale riders on here?
Cheers

Do you have bought it to musslightyear ? (there)
I don't think it's original painting. The swing arm is green, but the frame is black without white spalting. The decals has to be pink and green, and the spring of the shock as to be pink too.
Your bike is a 1991 SE2000, with shimano deore XT groupo, and ritchey parts. A beautifull and rare model (you find a lot of grey SE1000 with suntour XC comp groupo) . You can find the catalog pictures there if you need.

Other EST in the forum : there, there(you have pics of mine…)

Thanks!

Yes that 'muzzlightyear' guy must have been the guy I bought it from on ebay! It had those forks on it! i soon took them off and re-fitted the pepperonis!

I thought it must have been an se2000 because it has all of the correct equipment as you say, XT, ritchey, flexstem and a ringle seat qr! I agree that the painting is probably not original, but it seems strange that the spring is a different colour........ wouldn't have thought they would get that resprayed! Maybe I should send cannondale the frame number and see if they'll check for me! maybe the original snapped like yours and this was a replacement at a later date.............. what do you think?

I like your se1000, a bit more understated than mine, very cool!

Thanks for all your help mate!

My bike was a SE2000 kit frame black and green with a suntour XC comp MD groupo, bought new in december 1991
I was stupid : I respray the rear swingarm in black in 1993…

I crossed Australia with this bike. After, I broke the rear swingarm, so I replace it with a deltaV swingarm (more stiff than the EST) and I polished the frame.

Now, I have restored it with mavic parts, and, I'm going to respray it green and black, has it was in 1991 :D
