Cane Creek Headsets

Anybody had any luck fitting and using an Cane Creek S8 headset?

I had given up with using second hand oldie numbers and thought I would give it a chance but jeez is it a pain. As soon as youy get it to the point where there is no play - it has set stiff and wont turn.

The cups were pressed in with a Park press and everything is brand new and fitted properly.

Anybody got any help?

Hmmmmm strange! :? has the headtube been faced?

Hi, it is indeed strange. I inspected the faces on the headtube and they are as manufactured - still painted and looking good.

Its a bit of a pain as the last headset was fine.

Maybe I'll ream them just to make sure but it appears from 'another' forum that these S8's can be a right finicky thing.

I had a problem with a headset that went stiff intermittently, like rc300 suggests it turned out to be the headtube that needed facing.

Just get the tube faced to remove the paint it can make a world of difference to a high spec headset
