ahhh the old and multi-faceted canti / v-brake issue fires up again!
My missus has an '80s Vitus 787 Futural cyclocross frame with canti bosses onto which I fitted modern-ish Shimano v-brake calipers & levers. Works really well apart from 1) poss. too much braking power for a 9kg-ish bike, 2) ugly and 3) leaving a redundant canti cable stop on the mono seatstay which I am scared to try to remove given Vitus' structural idiosyncrasies!
So to fix these three issues I decided to go more retro and fit STX canti calipers & levers (the ones Woollyhatshop do for £15 a set) - unf. they were slightly too narrow go onto the bosses! I guess I need some older canti calipers with slightly wider boss holes - the lower angles ones 'crossers use(d) :?:
