Can you help me ID this GT Xizang?

Hi guys, I believe this is Ti but I am not a fan of the paint. I was told it was bought in 1998. Is this frame the same as the older ones, ie the unpainted Xizang bikes? Anything you can tell me about this would be awesome. Thanks guys.

It's a 99 GT Xizang. Same frame and the only year they sold them painted. If you strip it, it will look dull. Very tough to polish to a decent sheen like the 98 and earlier Xizang's. Been there tried that. It won't look like a 98 Lightning either which was bead blasted.

No idea, make an offer.
Does anyone have a picture of one that has been stripped of paint?

The beautiful thing about Retrobike is that it is against the forum rules to offer something up for sale without a price.

It would be a real shame if you decided to strip it. Give it to me :) A friend of mine had one until it broke. He loved the bike. I think '99 was also the last year of the Xizangs of the original GT company as they went bust only a few years later. My friend never got a replacement frame from GT, which pissed him off.
