Can regular brake pads be used on ceramic rims?

Oh duh too ...... just been in attic and found these staring me in the face - have used them in the distant past with LX cantis and they take standard pad inserts.

A bit more future proof.

@benjabbi - one day will try one of those Mavic rim scrubber things. 👍
They do a good job on both Ceramic and bare rims. Don't buy a Mavic branded one though. Horrifically overpriced. You can buy the same thing for a quarter of the price with a bit of googlefu. :)

I found that with the magura brakes and mavic ceramic rims, the ceramic brake pads would only be good on a fresh set of ceramic rims. The ceramic coating is quite coarse when new but whenever that coarseness has worn down, the standard brake pads will work better. Today I don't have any new/unworn ceramic rims left, so I use black or red brake pads without any issues.
