Due to the canti hanger being removed from my prestige

I have to run V brakes now but can i run them on Rc35's

You mean the canti rocker?

if so yeah remove it, or by pass it. You just need to mount the V's then use a suitable noodle (the curved metal tubes that come with V brakes) to guide the cable out from under the frame.

I'll grab a pick of my setup at some point over the weekend if you get stuck.

Oh, also Ive replied to your wanted post, Ive got 2 wheels of XT v brakes M739's earliest XT V's I believe, from 96/97 iirc.

They are advertised in my big sales thread in the sales forum (i think at £25 the lot.)

Watch the XT Vs with RC35 forks. They won't fit the MXCs cos the return spring doo dad on the arm hits the fork brace.

I fitted Avid Single Digits to mine in the end and they work great with a little fettling.

So the moral is.........yes V's will work but not all of them, they have to be reasonably low profile arms that stand a long way out from the fork leg when mounted (which is exactly what XTs ain't!).

ooh thanks for the heads up, nportenz I'll try the brakes out on my RC35 AB's and see how they look. (my marin has old M600's on the RC35's I couldnt afford the XT at the time I just assumed the Xt's would fit. )

Which RC35 are you running?

Xts should work on the earlier 35s with a single brace at the back like the ABs, but you might have to run the brakes on the front of the fork.

hey guys

i'm running the rc35 ab i believe - it has the rear arch that looks like one piece of tubular steel bent into a u shape and not the machined one

I have a set of both the machined arch and the tubular arch ones, I'll mount them up at some point over the weekend and report back.

Is it possible to move the brake mounts to the front of the fork on those very early models? Only asking as I would like to get a pair, but prefer my brakes in front, out of most of the mud and always wondered if you could?
