Can anyone date these Maguras for me please?

I got them on a Marin I bought off the 'Bay (Bought specifically for the wheels and brakes, I'll be splitting the rest) a few months ago. The bike was a '93/'94 Bear Valley SE but it had seen a lot of upgrades. Most of the kit was 90s stuff, but I reckon the brakes are a lot newer. Any ideas?

1997 I'm guessing. Thats when I had my yellow HS33s.

Nice set. Should recoup a bit of you purchase on those.

Ohh. As old as that you reckon? I was thinking they were only 2-3 years old TBH. I'd prefer older as it keeps the 'new' bike more in period!

Not for sale though, they'll be reappearing shortly. As will the wheels, which are green Goldtec hubs on Mavic 618 ceramics.

I only paid £250 for that Marin, delivered, and it was dripping with trick stuff.... :)

From what little I know about Magura, the HS33 was out in 1997 or 1998, and they carried on making them for ages, so could be a lot newer, but you'd have to find a expert to know. I know they are still making them in pretty similar style, but the brace is different these days.

Great brakes. I'd keep them.

Ahh, I see. Thanks for that. I'm the closest thing I know of to a "Magura expert" though, but all I know is disc brakes

There definately not from around 97 though I couldn't give an exact date. The very first ones were available either flourescent yellow, orange/red or a dark blue and the bit where the hose comes out was a lot thicker with a large allen head bolt for the bleed hole. Those you've got are a later model, I can't tell you exactly when they were made though they were replaced in 2005 so at a guess I'd say some time between 1999-2005 maybe.

Cheers, thanks for the info :)

I thought they were nearly new TBH, mainly because they are white, the current trendy colour, and the condition is superb, there's only one chip on them anywhere as far as I can see.
