As I said, the last bit - the old myth about the "church" (or even "wars caused by religion") having killed more people than those caused by dictators, atheistic states etc.

It might be trotted out frequently, but it doesn't take very much research to discover that it's one of these myths that are very popular but actually ridiculously wrong.

Funnily enough I happened across this article a few minutes ago at the side of something else I was reading - I never normally read the Guardian and I'm sure I don't agree with everything the author says, but there are some good points in it nonetheless. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/s ... th-secular

so this thread has a "report" on it, which draws my attention as the Mod, i hate these bunfight threads, i really do.

i can't be bothered to moderate it and read through all the comments and quotes so i'll do us all a favour and lock it.

i realise this is the G&OT section so any subject is fair game but frankly i wish you'd all take these arguments/conversations elsewhere.
