Can a PayPal F&F payment be recalled ?

Re:

No I don’t think that’s necessary.

Hopefully he will do the right thing since it was his mistake. However my PM was read earlier and hasn’t been responded to. I’ve sent a second message and that’s not read so I’ll give him chance first.

I was just finding info at this stage as wasn’t sure where else to ask.

What exactly do you mean by "get message to say email was typed incorrect. "?

Did you get a bounce message from a server saying the email address doesn't exist? If so, I'd be very surprised if someone claimed the money.

Another option might be for you or the seller to register the misspelt email address yourselves, set up a paypal account and grab the money.

Ultimately, it's the seller who is responsible since they gave you the wrong email address. What do they say?

Re:

Sorry maybe I wasn’t clear.

I agreed a price for a item. The seller sent me a pm with his email address a couple of days ago to send PayPal payment. I copied the address and sent a PayPal gift payment yesterday. I followed this up by sending a pm to say the money was sent.

Today I received a PM to say he had written the email wrong and to send it to a slightly different address.

Oh just incorrectly spelled isnt a prob. There actually has to be an email address that denotes to a paypal account or nothing goes anywhere.

I've mistyped my email, missing out one bit or other and no payment goes through if it doesnt have an account to go to. Happened at least 4 times on here.

Hi, yes you can cancel a payment to an incorrect email address.

Like above, if the email is not a registered paypal account it will show as unclaimed and you can cancel.

Re:

It appears I need access to a PC rather than phone /tablet so will try to get on one and see if I can cancel.

It can be reclaimed if it's a failed transfer.

However a gift transfer if correctly made cannot be rescinded. That's the whole point of the payment protection side.
