I've been doing a few over night camping trips. I bought a liquid fuel Trangia stove purely so that i can have a brew in the morning. The 'proper' fuel is £6 a litre, anything else I could be using?
I'm thinking Meths, and was told the same by a mate at work. But he is the sort of mate who would say it just to watch me burn all my hair off my face :? :D

We used meths in them when I was on an army thingy in Snowdonia, the only warning we had about it was "Don't f*cking drink it!!"!!!!   They worked fine!

Meths...........IIRC ye can also water it down slightly to cut down on blackening of the pans and kettle......I feckin' love the wee Trangia kettle :P

They can use about any liquid that burns, basically.

My boat has no gas on board, so I use an Origo marine alcohol stove.

I've never used anything but meths, although if you're riding in france you can get something called Alcohol a brulee (spelling?) that is meant to work better.

Use meths, it will be fine. Don't use petrol or paraffin.

He lit in the house then phoned me to tell me how safe it was... I could hear my Mum come in and go mental when she saw him
