Ok its not actually 'retro' but modern Campag BB are over 15 years old now..

Seems that Veloce double BB 111mm English are no longer available

Does anyone know if the Shimano one will fit ??? are the tapers the same ??

Or is it a case of using a Token one ???

all help appreciated.

I bought a 111 square taper one from Parkers a few weeks ago. It's changed design and now needs the Campag lockring tool to fit (like Chorus and Record always did) instead of the awful FAG tool. It also looks to be separable and in future to take regular bearings from a bearing supplier. 8)

Don't fit a Shimano, my experience of fitting ISO cranks to JIS tapers ended in tears...and a trashed crank.

What they fail to say is that in addition to the cranks sitting wider, about 4mm or so extra of taper is not on the BB. That leaves only around 8-10mm and it can work loose.

Now, it's up to you - do you want to buy the right BB (and there is little cost penalty) or do you want to risk wrecking your cranks...?

sorry, I was initially confused with this thread. For clarification, modern campag BB's don't have tapers. They have external cups with an axle incorporated into the cranks.
The ones you refer to are still retro, not modern.

Plenty of veloce BB's floating around on t'internet for 20-ish quid

they last ages as well.
