Campag Xenon brake blocks

Hi,

Got a 2002 MONOC TC2 with campag xenon. Brake blocks are needing a change, however bit of research reveals these are a bit special. In that the caliper slot only just takes the 5.8mm width bolt, precluding use of other block/cartridge systems including later/skeleton campag....as these all have a sleeve/collar around the bolt behid the block/carrier.

I think original part number is BR-MI600, which seems to be equivalent to Veloce VL600 blocks... the price of 4 of these is a bit little bit salty, butI'd like to have cartridge ... Does anyone know if there's a compatible replacement block/workaround for these?

Cheers!

Technically you could use threaded post pads meant for V brakes or the threaded Kool Stop Eagle 2 pads. It wouldn't look vintage or period correct but having longer pads would make the brakes work better. I used to do that with single pivot brakes on my commuter bikes back in the day.

I forgot to mention that you may need what Kool Stop calls thinline pads to clear the space between the rim and fork because of the longer pad.

If it's just that the slot in the arms is. A little too thin, then some careful filing should let you fit standard pads. Need pics to be sure...
