Campag rear mech compatibility

Does anyone know if the older derailleurs from the pre-ergo era work fine with ergo shifters? ie. do they have the same shift ratio?

Any help will be much appreciated!

Certainly the older MTB ones (early 90's) worked fine for me with pre-2001 ergos.
Remember that the cable pull changed in 2001, so only all pointy-top ergos should be OK, or the round top ones without the speed designation on the hood front.

^^^What he said, really. Anything designed for Campag's Syncro indexing system - especially 8 speed as Ergo and down-tube levers existed almost side-by-side for that era [1] - should be OK. Pre-Syncro mechs may be a bit more of a gamble, though, but if they have an adjustable cable tensioning stop the potential to make it work after a fashion is there.

[1] I know this 'cause I went back to down tube levers for a while after my 8sp Ergos packed up, circa 1997.
