How do I tell what model and how many speeds the freehub is ?

Are cassettes readily avaliable ? As I've heard that older ones (7/8 speed) are a bit difficult.

Will post pics if needed.

Yeah a picture is necessary as there were many models that looked very similar.

Otherwise go on Velobase and try to locat your hub...

8 speed splines look a bit like shimano. 9 10 11 are all the same and much deeper splines.

Campag 8 speed cassettes are still available new from Ribble Cycles and High On Bikes amongst others.
