campag 9 speed barend shifter - friction conversion?

does anyone know if it's possible? Anyone done it?

Just wondering, before I start taking mine apart and swapping pieces from other shifters

I haven't done it but having taken 8 speed ones apart to convert to 10 speed I doubt it can be done TBH.
Not sure where you get the parts from to suit the largish barrel part of the shifter.

Hopefully someone will come along and pour scorn on my assertions because I'd be interested in this as well!

Impossible. If you want friction up there I suppose you could buy retroshifts, but they're ugly.

More or less what I thought then... I have some simplex and also c record friction levers, but their throw is to much for an 8 or 9 speed cassette.
