I've been through about 5 sets of cable cutters in my time and to be honest non of them have been particularly good.

I am assuming, like most things, you get what you pay for, so can anyone recommend a decent set ?

I used to have a set of shimano ones, bloody brilliant they were til my bro in law tried to use them to cut a nail   . I tend to use a quality pair of side cutters now.

if you work on bikes for a living, or just want the best, get some felco c7's

or listen to the engineers and waste your money on something else

As a self proclaimed engineer (!), I would suggest the JCB wire cutters from B&Q which I got. Cut through cables and outers very cleanly. Cost me £15.

Otherwise, as mentioned, just a good quality set will do. I wouldnt spend more than £20 on them and avoid park. They are excellent and everything, but you can get just as good for less.

iv'e always used plain old pliers, they seem to work just fine.
but only because i've never got round to buying some proper cable cutters.
