Of the 40 or so riders that I just endured the British summer with, there were some riding fairly retro steeds including:
2 Voodoos
Proflex 656
Raleigh Max (honest)
and some others I have forgotten (RM something etc). They all finished.
We learned that:
1. Cantis work, but wear out quickly.
2. Rear mechs do not live in the rear wheel.
3. Well-maintained bikes just need a squirt of oil and continue to do their jobs.
4. No-one will steal your bike when it is pouring with rain and you are cold and want them too while you are in the tea rooms!
