C Record BB question

I’m building up a bike with C Record 8 speed. What are my BB options? I know earlier versions used conventional cup and axle but was wondering if I could use the later record type with the triple cartridge bearing? Any advice appreciated

If it’s Record cartridge type you have 102 & 111mm versions.
Tifosi are a good quality cheaper option & have same length + 115mm option.

I have C Record pista cranks 177.5 length on record 111mm cartridge BB, works well.

When I’ve been in a quandary I’ve just bought 2-3 Tifosi BB’s then tried each one for the fit with the best chain line.

I’m sure someone will have a better answer than mine......

Re:

The C Record (with the shield logo) cranks take a 111 mm symmetrical bottom bracket. Your best option is to buy a brand new Centaur 111 mm bb, that will definitely work.

You cannot use the later Record bottom brackets - some of them are 102 mm for the later cranks, and some of them are 111 mm asymmetrical for triple cranks. Neither will work.

There were Record cartridge bottom brackets for C Record cranks made in the 90s, but they're not easy to find.

Be careful buying after market 111 mm units, some will be correct, but some will be for the later triple and they often don't say on them which they are.

Re:

Great thanks. That was the info I was looking for particularly around the 111 compatibility. You’ve saved me buying a record or chorus asymmetrical one. I may use a centaur until I can find a correct C Record one at the right money
