Building my new frame - shiney frame pics added!

Re:

Thanks for the update Makster

Sounds like geting back end lined up was tricky .

I'm sure it will be worth taking the time to get it right

This is fast becoming my favorite ..erm...'build thread' this year.

Magic work Mark...really coming together. Can't wait to see those fillets :D

Re:

Awesome work Mark! What better way to get connected to you bike than by literally building it! Love it!

Re:

Big progress today. I put in a 12 hour shift, but got the rewards!
The day started off with my first taste of fillet brazing.
I started off with just brazing a line onto a piece of box section (and was told it was the best first effort the instructor had ever seen :D ) nd then progressed onto some test pieces of tubing.

I then set about finishing off the dry fitting of my chainstays. These were a proper pain but I got there in the end.

With these in place in was time to put my new brazing 'skills' into use for real...on my frame!

It's amazing how quickly these parts of the frame were brazed. I'd been worried about this part of the build all week and it just went so quickly.

The next logical stage was to check all of the alignments before fitting the seat-stays, but the other chap doing the course wasn't ready for this so I set about cleaning up the brazing I'd done and added the cable guides to the underside of the cross-tube.

It's getting more and more like a bike every day :D

Re:

is there gonna be a chainstay bridge?

looking good 8)

oh and what's the accommodation and food like? :D

Re:

Not sure on a chainstay bridge yet. Going to try a wheel in it and see how much clearance there is.
The bunk house is basic. The beds aren't the best, and it's in the middle of nowhere.
The nearest pub is 10 mins drive, there absolutely no phone signal and the wifi isn't great.
The food is fantastic though, and the facilities for all things bike are perfect.
The staff couldn't be nicer too.
