Build complete: 20yo Cannondale SM600 Retro-Grouch build

Acht, I knew someone would spot that! Seat was slightly loose on this first ride & slipped. Fixed when I got home.

looks very nice indeed- is it more of a street machine with that gearing? And do get out on a retro ride with the other macretro coffin dodgers and get your banner 8)

It was intended as a train-station bike, but it got a bit out of hand! Then again I didn't notice the gearing on the short ride this morning. It's not going up Glentress - 32x16 for that! I'm riding it 20 miles on roads tomorrow, we'll see how the hills are...

Cheers, al.

Make sure that rear axle is bolted in gorilla-tight! Those rear dropouts were very shallow and you can pull the rear wheel out sprinting hard!

You're right! I had to experiment with a few QRs til I found one wide enough to sit across the slot. It's a rubbish design, sadly. I'm thinking about taking a round file to the dropouts, to give them a slight forward 'dimple' for the axle to sit in. I'm also after a pair of Cannondale Coda QRs which look quite wide.

Rode it to & from Edinburgh last week, what fun! It's little and jumpy :D

Chucked the awful Shimano STX canti pads and put some Clarks on. Now I can stop as well!

Cheers, al.
