I notice they are no longer the parallelogram version which were brill.

You can pick up LX m600 for next to nothing these days and theyre a good brake especially when paired with a good lever.

Re: Re:

I have been scarred with Discs, which is how I found retrobike when I was offered an old Saracen a few years ago. 8)

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh need slam man to punch arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh
i was reading this on wensday no issues with my brakes
weather turned crap so i put another wheel on which has an older solid xt rotor on
caliper needed a slight adjustment, used the velcro tape on the lever method to hold pads shut on the rotor had to do it a couple of times got it spot on
checked it lots of times spinnig an braking it was fine,

i tried another wheel with an xt ice tech on an that was sticking.
so i went to bed angry just been lining it up again on the older solid xt wheel had murder with it today it would not line up was abouts to throw a fit an i loosed the skewer of a little as i was taking it off while the wheel was spinning noticed no rotor catching now arrrrrgh
so i checked the caliper was on tight enough gave it another spin all good

turned the bike around gave the wheel a spin it had just slightly started catching ffs i can go a year with no rotor brake issue swap a wheel over for the winter an all hell brakes lose
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh sorry for ranting but that feels better now better then punching a door or something, thats it tho ive had enough this is my comute/shoping an flat xc for canal paths etc im converting back to vbrakes as soon as possible,
ive got 2 sets of xt an 1 xtr here fu disk brakes hate u

This.

Bargain.
I would still pay the original price of £40 for the M739 if I needed some new.

Re:

EggyBum6969 I feel your pain, I have tried several types of Hydraulic brakes, whilst they offer eye-ball popping stopping power I have never had a set that I was truly happy with, they always seem to need constant tweaking, and many a time I was out on a ride and found myself with brakes that were creeping on :x

V brakes for my next 2 build, cheap, easy to set up and very little to go wrong with them 8)

i dont blame you bud :) i feel the same an im glad i never sold my v's :)

theres such a big margin for error there should be a 2 minor adjustment screws or something to widen each pad half a mil at a time

i wanted to be able to just swap wheels out for quickness
rather then swapping tyres or rotors each time.

these brakes were pre made up an aside from swaping the crown race from my old fork which my brother took off an lbs put on2 the new, ive rebuilt this all myself an its been great
so for the brakes to now be making me hate it is really crappy

i dont think it should be that hard for them to make an easyier install an adjust caliper

i dont mind an extra gram or too if the dam things were more simple an reliable

i think ile just put my old 3rd party rotor on the winter wheel later an see how i go
if its ok then i must have bent the xt doing the velcro on lever then tighten method
i cant even think stright right now i get so annoyed with this

hats off to mechanics they must get stressesed out with disc brakes

Re:

What I don't get is this.....I have disc brakes on my Micra. They need a set of brake pads every 8-12k, some fresh fluid every 5 years or so. I never have any problems with them at all :?

And they are cheaper than my bike brakes too

ive fixed it now acera are a bugger maybe the rotor is a bit out of true or something
but the wheel is spinning almost for ever now without catching at all

i have been clamping the lever an spinning the bike upside down to adjust it
as my back is still sore from mondays ride

i just taped the lever off an adjusted it in a upright postion an it worked 1st time :)

i do not own a bike stand i havent got room for one at the moment
