brooks saddles

i have an early brooks b17 standard saddle,it says made in great britain and has a small s stamped underneath and the letters aol stamped on the leather,length is 11 1/2" x 6 3/4" does anyone no what year it might be from as ive tried searching without alot of succes.

More recent saddles have the year with a month represented by a letter in between, so 1a0 would be 2010 jan.

Earlier had a year stamped into the frame as well as the leather, but this was when the frame was made, not the complete saddle which could be over a year in advance.

I think that the original date code system was actually lost by Brooks, so they cannot tell themselves, other than going by the badge, maybe. Even then it is not going to be that accurate.

However, this only from some brief net research a few weeks ago myself.
