Broken Flange!!!

So I'm cycling home last night and admittedly I was standing up and cranking it as fast as I could along Whiteladies Road in Bristol, when I hear a ping from the front wheel. I thought i had snapped a spoke as my front wheel instantly looked a bit 'wobbly'. :?

Unfortunately it proved to be a bit more serious (see pic). :shock:

Does anyone have a silver Hope front hub?? :cry:

P.S. Before anyone says I had my spokes tensioned too tight, I check them regularly and they were perfect...I think this one goes down to age...

Yet another Hope hub bites the dust...
Same thing happened to me a few years ago. Riding along and noticed my rear brake was rubbing. Saw my wheel was buckled and suspected a broken spoke. On closer inspection I found that 3 of the spoke holes on my blue ti-glide hub had turned into a big jagged mess.
The hub had had about seven years use at that point.
However BITD I did remember the same failure happening on hubs which were less than a year old.

Perhaps someone should start a 'show us your broken hope hub' thread.

i do have a 36 hole silver hope hub, laced to Mavic 231 rim - the rim is a bit iffy, but hub is sound
