brodie torque

So Roy has advised me this is bike is from Brodie's 2000/2001 line-up. Whoever had it before me used it as a tourer ( I think ) - it's patina and multiple rack mounts suggest its done some miles!

I intend to build it up as a multipurpose bike with DX components taken from my old Breezer - much as I love the Breezer its just too small. Going to try the Mary bars and add a rear rack and mudguards - and can anyone recommend tires that are comfortable on road and trail? I was thinking of Panaracer Paselas - I have them on my Galaxy and they seem pretty good.

Picking it up tomorrow and will start building on the weekend.

So the gloss black pain job looks great - did part of the build yesterday at Glasgow's bike station ( fix your own bike session is £4/hour) - cranks, headset, stem bars, brakes, seat post and saddle all fitted - and Carlos, the mechanic, assisted me in 'facing' the BB shell. Its looking good - just really the cables and chain to be added and I'm done.

Not sure whether to bother with decals?
And trying to figure out rear cable hanger for canti brakes - the Surly Long Cable Hanger seems a good option.
Might try these tires seeing as they are on sale: http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php ... 0s206p2884

Thanks Roy - I can see the Torque came fitted with V brakes, which explains the absence of canti hanger.

Had that exact bike with a Marzocchi XC600 on it......loved that thing!!!
Actually, mine must have been older as it had the canti noodle around the seat-tube.
Rode amazingly well for a 'production' bike.
Lookin good.....always love the black Brodie's.

Mike
thanks for the Climbmax tease there Roy ;)

Looking very good

The lack of decals might reduce it's nickability.

Are you pleased with the powdercoating? May I ask how much - pm if you like - as previously mentioned I am looking for a good cost effective option.

Powder coating is fine - £66 was the cost - having said that, when I dropped it off I instructed the chap to only mask the brakes bosses and fork steerer. When I picked it up I immediately noticed the bottom bracket shell had been masked, which means the outer face of the BB shell is unpainted - and therefore a place where deterioration / rust can begin. I pointed this out and his reply was that this is how they do all the bikes. I won't be going back.

Regarding decals - I doubt the average Glaswegian drug addict is familiar with the Brodie brand! I will be ordering decals from GilM if I can afford them once the bike is finished.
