Retro Newbie
Hi
After 27 years in loft back to working.
All original.
Tyres and tubes changed as were perished.
Paint is faded.
New seat.
One set of brake blocks as were cracked.
New cables.
Cut and polish
All lines and greased.
I last used back in 1993 only a handful of times.
Found the original book and receipt
Found the original boss helmet as well.
Very pleased.
What do you think.

A picture of the bike would be nice :)

Wow.

I remember these were so cheap, people used to buy them just for the groupset and skip the terrible frames.

Those were the days when Madison controlled Shimano distribution in the UK, and parts were expensive to consumers but OEMs and bike mfrs could buy direct from Shimano so you had this situation where British Eagle could sell a whole bike cheaper than you could buy a groupset for.

Because of this sole distribution rights situation none of the european distribution channels (shops or importers) were allowed to send parts to the UK so there was no alternative.

In the mean time places like Chainreaction sprung up and kickstarted their dominance by selling "grey" import Shimano, Madison were not happy.

Then EU courts rule that this was not right and we should be able to buy in the UK from europe at the same price as sold in Europe.

And so as we leave the EU I wonder if Madison / Freewheel will close down these channels once more and be allowed sole rights again.....

wow that is amazing that you have kept it all that time! I love the all black tyres. My uncle had one back in 1992 when I was 12 years old...... I was very envious of.... well at the ripe old age of 40 I now have my own B-Eagle Boss took my many years to find one for sale in my size,so I had to buy it even though the frame was in a really bad state. £55.00 for the bike and £120.00 for the paint work!. I did not want it to be the original yellow as I wanted it to be slightly different. Hope you enjoy being back on it. 8)
