Is it possible to fit canti or V brakes on a u-brake mount?

No. They're in a different place on the frame.

U-brake pivots are above the rim, while canti/V pivots are below it. The posts are also a different diameter.

If you browse back through the forum a few weeks there's a thread about fitting Magura (hydraulic rim) brakes to U-brake posts.

Couple of local shops would have just looked at me if I'd asked. Them said something like;

"What's a U brake then?"

Sorry, got a bit derailed there.
You can get some very tasty U-brakes for BMXs though.

So true. Dia-comp do light weights with a light weight price. Retrobikeguy has a very tasty ano red U his Trimble
