My new Boardman hybrid has v brakes and I had forgotten what a horrible mess they make in the wet! Is there a brake pad available that doesn't cover my wheels and frame in a black horrible mess every time I use them in the rain or should I get used to it?

Yea I totally agree with you ,,
But when I first started using them I was in two minds as the price is ...well.... lets just say .. er.. not cheap... :shock: :shock: ,
Also I looked at it as ,, well they are your blo&dy brakes,,, the thing that stops you slamming / dropping off that wall ,rock, tree, car etc (delete as appropriate
)
but honestly they are really worth it , I have use the majority of other makers pads on the market and I think even on a £ to value ratio , they are deff 10/10 as they will outlast at least two sets of inferior pads :shock: how , why I dont know ? some magic compound perhaps ?
I have never used any other pads , that performs so well in the wet and the dry , and especially the northumberlamd , and scottish dirt and grit which is hard on all components..

you wouldnt buy a bso to go downhill i guess
if you can afford them then go with em
i dont have any experience but also, as sith says they outlast inferior pads which says that theyre going to pay for themselves really

They would last ages too on a commuter consider it a upgrade too,, a lot of people tend to spend any amount on 'bits' for there bike, but when it comes down to the things that matter they tend to spend peanuts.. false economy imho... and as I've said they are the things that stop you,, quite important and a not to be overlooked upgrade

You're paying good money for the extra S.
I'm with Sith, Swissstop pads are worth every penny. The blues on ceramic rims, and green on ornery. If you need more stopping power than they can offer, you need discs!
