Re:

Correct me if I am wrong but the Ridgeback is made in Taiwan and hung with Japanese ancillaries the Orange is also an offshore confection also hung with Shimano
The Merc is handmade using English steel with Campagnolo ancillaries and French tyres ,altogether bespoke and European although ...who cares ?

Ridgeback and Orange would have likely been designed in the UK by UK companies. The Ridgeback was made somewhere in Asia I expect as it had to make a price point, labour costs and very experienced people. The Orange was made in USA as it was far better than anyone could have done in the UK.

Re:

Rampage...we used to make cars and even had a manufacturing industry here too if you google it you might also find we gave birth to the industrial revolution back in the day.
Now my countrymen shop in German supermarkets and drive Japanese cars and work in non productive industries cashing in on the financial landslide that our Empire has become

Re:

As an Engineer you know that's all a poor excuse and as a designer I know that Ridgeback and Orange chose from products offered and no 'design' was involved other than Accountancy.

I'm aware of that.
There was no company in the UK that could have done a better job of the Orange titanium frames. Was there even a company setup in the UK to make a reasonable number of titanium frames in the early nineties?

Re:

Cynical financial cashing in in brand loyalty
Not very Yorkshire at the end of the day
As you say though a mass produced product rather than a bespoke one off but hey.....who cares ?
