Re: BoTM May 13- Kona vs GT vs Specialized Special - Nominat
Man, I'm getting serious nostalgia this month! Viewing this thread just made me realise that about 90% of my riding buddies in my teens had either a Spesh a GT or a Kona. Let me think - there was a Hard Rock, a Rockhopper, a Lava Dome, a Cinder Cone and two Tequesta's in our little riding group.
So an ideal choice of brands for the 3 way special this month!
Stripped and repainted in metallic silver all over, with new decals and a NOS tubing sticker (that wasn't easy to find!).
All the components I got back with the frame set were reused, with some NOS stuff to treat it to as it had been away from me for so long.
I can't believe I got this bike back. I'll never sell it, it cost me a fortune to re-build (well a fortune to me anyway) and I'll keep it forever now. I'm also not locking it up anywhere away from me.... ;-)
I've already ridden it and jumped it too!! Sweet riding, just perfect.

Damn that freakin Ameybrook.
I'd enter an Ultimate or hastily assemble a Furtado Xizang but that boy is so anal retentive I'd have to find the proper dust and dirt to approach his attention to detail. Hell, he'd probably have Overend himself pose with it if he entered one of his Specialized bikes.

Now:
Definitely a "rider", it's been through a fair few guises and now exists as a SS racer after a nasty incident with a branch and a non-replaceable mech hanger clicky for build thread
