Befores and Afters

A 1991 Nishiki Alien SP - bought as a tatty frameset off the Bay last year (mainly for some Tioga Revolver spares that came with it, if I'm honest), shipped over by Fairfax Pat (cheers buddy!), various hoarded components selected and attached, finished off by the LBS (thanks Ash) last Saturday, ridden properly on Wednesday and this morning to much delight!

Mr K

PS. Tried some modern tyres this morning as it was a bit snowy and slushy - came away quite impressed (for a Luddite)...

If only....

I win a bet with myself... but in far less time than I thought (my time zone calculator must be on the blink!). I guess the spirit of MTBR must continue to spread its happy wings across the globe in the name of freedom...

I take it that's 2 votes lost already then...

dude, cross chained is cross chained no matter what continent you're on

the mechanic in me just died a little

this is my oldest daughter's bike. It started it's life in 1988 as a Top Gun (XS frame size) and was repainted in the gorgeous "Painted Desert" color in 94 or 95 and at that time was re-named to Rascal. She's riding it now since 7 years and will have outgrown it soon. Parts are a wild mix of what i had and what fits her, nothing special. Mag20, XC Pro cranks, XT hubs, some twist shifters.
Thought it's a good candidate because
a) it gets ridden
b) is not a period correct build at all and
c) has at least a few color mismatched ano parts on it

Cheers, Carsten

Touched

Patently I've never had a mechanic inside of me... ;-)

I'll withdraw said entry - I cannot live with the shame and humiliation I have bestowed upon myself....!

Mr K

The alien is great also. What are those green brakes?
