Pair of Bontrager Select road wheels, 700c, Shimano 8, 9, 10 speed comatible
These are a really light set of wheels that would set you back £400 new. However, these have some nasty cosmetic issues which means I'm almost giving them away!
They are running true and nice and smooth - the rear hub has just had a thorough service so is perfect; the front is probably due the same. The braking surfaces are in good shape, the front has no concavity and the rear is just starting.
The bad bit:
The rims are suffering quite badly from "bubbling" under the paint - basically oxidation taking over from the paint from most of the spoke holes outwards. My guess is these have been used by a previous owner on winter salt roads and not cleaned, hence the problem. I've photographed some of the worst bits (see below) where you can see that the paint has lifted off altogether and looks pretty rough.
So, they look pretty nasty but they are light and are fundamentally a nice set of wheels. I have no need for them but they would make an excellent set of winter or commuter wheels for someone…..but not Sunday Best!!
I've included a Continental GP Attack front tyre (good condition, hardly any tread wear but has had a cut repaired - loads of life) and an almost new Vittoria Diamante Radliale Pro (if you haven't used one of these, you should, they are excellent!). Also, two inner tubes included. The Bontrager skewers will also come with them and are in excellent condition.
All up I'm asking £50 for all of it, which is less than the tyres cost me!
Collection preferred, from near Delamere Forest in Cheshire.
